On Sunday 20th May 2018, the SFA will be holding another Regional Training Day at the Oriam Sports Centre, Edinburgh. This is open to all referees category 4-7 and comes highly recommended for your development. The feedback from these events is always excellent and the quality of coaching you will receive is fantastic.
The day will consist of some outdoor practical demonstrations on decision making, and you are asked to bring along a set of flags, a whistle and red & yellow card. You will be coached by some of the country’s top senior listed officials past and present, and the coaching will be tailored to your level of referreing. There will also be some indoor classroom based activities, and the day will run from 10am – 3.30pm.
Anyone interested in attending must notify Joe McDowall BY EMAIL as soon as possible in order for the SFA to make arrangements. It would be nice to see some increased numbers from Renfrewshire RA this year!

Last week, the Scottish FA’s Category 1, 3SAR and some members of SCORE participated in a 4-day winter training camp in La Manga, Spain. This camp has been running for a number of years and involved 45 officials this year. It was a pretty intense 4 days, with the officials being given coaching throughout each day, physical sessions combined with classroom based sessions involving video clips and discussions. Martin Atkinson from the English FA also paid our officials a visit and talked about the new VAR system. It appears to have been a tough but very enjoyable and beneficial week for all involved. Below is a picture of 5 of Renfrewshire RA’s members who attended: Joe Lawson (Cat 3SAR), Graham Grainger (Cat 2 Dev), David Dickinson (Cat 1 Dev), Craig Thomson (Cat 1) and Graeme Stewart (Cat 3SAR).
